Can a Grape be a sample

If you are at the grocery store and you test a grape to see if you like them(not to sour not to sweet)is that
  1. Stealing from the store or
  2. Does the store expect you to sample them

    you forgot a 3rd option, "showing a fondness for pesticides since the grapes have not been washed".

    Other than that I would say #1 if you don't buy any grapes, #2 if you buy grapes.

    So, I gave you a conditional answer that probably doesn't help the survey.
